Before we start making this DIY glow in the dark jar, let us first list the materials needed. In making a glow in the dark jar, we need the following:
DIY Mason Jar Fairy Lights
– Jar (any clean jar will do)
– Glow in the dark fabric paint (you can use several colors to make it more colorful)
– Scissors (for cutting the acetate)
– Hair dryer
– Decorations (e.g. glitters, ribbons, etc.)
Now that we have the things we need, we can now start making our first glow in the dark jar. It is an easy step. Here’s how:
Gather the materials you need in making this DIY craft. Now, get the acetate and measure it to a size you want. Using your scissors, cut your acetate to your desired length. In doing this, consider whether the acetate will fit into the jar. You may also want to consider whether the acetate is covering the insides of the jar.
Using your glow in the dark fabric paint, make a layer of tiny dots on your acetate. Make sure that they are close together. Now, let them dry for a while. Once they are dry, place larger dots of fabric paint atop the tiny ones. Continue doing this until you have covered the whole area with dots of fabric paint. You can use a hair dryer to make the dots dry faster. You’ll see that once your DIY glow in the dark jar is finished, it will give some sort of fairy or firefly effect in the dark.
The next thing you need is your jar. Make sure it is clean, if not, wash the jar and dry it first. You can use different types of jars for this activity. Most video tutorials and articles recommend mason jars; nevertheless, you can also use old glass jars for this purpose. Once it is completely dry, roll the acetate and place it inside the jar. Make sure that the bumpy side of the acetate is facing outward.
Step 4 (Optional)
You can also put some decorations in your DIY glow in the dark jar to make it more beautiful. You can use different colors of glow in the dark fabric paint to make your DIY craft more colorful. Likewise, you can also use some decorations to make it lovelier. You can decorate the cap of the jar with glitters or ribbons. You can also use wires or yarns to hang your glow in the dark jar.
