Save money by giving your home this unique floor upgrade. By using brown paper bags you can transform your floor into something you can be proud of and this project can be done with either a concrete or wood floor.
Clear out the room you would like to work on then prep the floors by mixing the concrete and patching up holes left from carpet tracks.
You can then sand the floor with a pole sander or sand paper if you are doing this on a wooden floor. For concrete floors you must first seal the floor with a coat of floor paint or coat of poly. Then start ripping the paper in no particular size or shape so it can look more natural.
After ripping the pieces roll them in a ball and wrinkle them, flatten it out and do the same to the next piece so that when you add stain and glue them to the floor the wrinkles will show through giving it that “old-leather” texture.
Then start mixing the glue use 50% water and 50% Elmer’s glue for concrete floors and for wooden floors a ratio of 3 water to 1 glue will work best. don’t mix all the glue at once. Your paper will shrink as it dries so make sure each piece overlaps a little. Apply glue on both sides of the paper.
Now use the deck pad to stain the floor.
After you are done, let it dry for 2 days then add a thin layer of polyurethane. It might turn out with white patches depending the paper you use…
Don’t worry just add about ten to twelve more layers of polyurethane, it will only take you about 20-30 minutes to add each coat and you should allow for about an hour of drying between each coat. Leave it alone for about a week before putting anything on it, now your floor is complete!
